KERSTIN AHLRICHS
Aus der niedersächsischen Provinz führte mich mein Weg zunächst an die Universität Hildesheim, wo ich Kulturwissenschaften mit Schwerpunkt Film und Literatur studierte. Schnell war klar, dass ich Filme machen wollte und so zog es mich nach dem Diplom nach Berlin. Anfangs arbeitete ich in einem Filmgeräteverleih und bewarb mich an der Deutschen Film- und Fernsehakademie (DFFB). Ich begann Kamera zu studieren, wechselte aber bald zur Regie. Eine intensive Studienzeit mit vielen Projekten folgte. In diese Zeit fielen auch erste Arbeiten als Kameraassistentin u. A. für Elfi Mikesch. Daneben verdiente ich meinen Lebensunterhalt mit der Kinoleitung in einem Freiluftkino, der Berlinale, jobbte in einem Copyshop, als DJ, etc.
Mit meinem Regiedebüt „SIEH ZU DASS DU LAND GEWINNST“, mit Anna Maria Mühe in der Hauptrolle, schloss ich das Studium 2006 ab. Seither führe ich Regie für vielfältige Produktionen für Fernsehen und Kino.
Meine Arbeit erlebe ich als kreativen und handwerklichen Prozess, bei dem sich meine unterschiedlichen Fähigkeiten und Erfahrungen perfekt ergänzen.
After growing up in provincial Lower Saxony I made my way to the University in Hildesheim, where I studied cultural studies with a focus on film and literature. I soon realized that I wanted to direct movies and so I moved to Berlin after receiving my Diploma.
I first worked at a company renting out filming equipment and applied for the German Film and Television Academy (DFFB). I studied cinematography, but soon switched to directing. It was an intense time filled with an array of diverse projects. At that time, I also did my first stints as a camera assistant, e.g. with Elfi Mikesch. On the side, I earned my living as the manager of an open-air cinema, as an employee at the Berlinale, as an assistant in a copy shop, as a DJ…
I finished my studies in 2006 with my directing debut “SIEH ZU DASS DU LAND GEWINNST”, with Anna Maria Mühe as the lead actress. Since then, I worked as a director for various productions for cinema and television. I experience my work as a process that requires creativity and craftmanship in which my different abilities and experiences complement each other perfectly.
